AkzoNobel and Winning International signed a cooperation agreement to jointly promote the transformation of green shipping

During the 2025 China International Maritime Exhibition, International Paint, a subsidiary of AkzoNobel, and Qingdao Winning International Ship Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as: Winning International) officially signed a cooperation agreement on the 2026 docking project.

According to the agreement, AkzoNobel will provide hundreds of thousands of liters of International Paints silicone antifouling paint for Winning International's ship dock repair project in 2026, using cutting-edge sustainable coating technology to further improve the operational efficiency and environmental performance of its fleet.

As the global shipping industry accelerates its transition to green and low-carbon, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has successively introduced emission reduction regulations such as the Carbon Intensity Index (CII) to encourage ships and shipping companies to continue to pay attention to their own carbon emission performance and actively take measures to optimize energy efficiency.As one of the world's largest shipbuilding and shipping countries, China is accelerating the implementation of the "dual carbon" strategy in the shipping field and promoting the widespread application of green ship technology and environmentally friendly solutions.The powerful alliance between AkzoNobel and Winning International is a vivid practice for both parties to transform their sustainability commitments into concrete actions and jointly promote green transformation.

The core product of this cooperation, International Paint's Intersleek® 1100SR, is the world's first antifouling coating that does not contain antifouling agents and has patented "mucus desorption" technology.Its unique mechanism of action brings powerful fouling control performance, significantly reduces navigation resistance, helps fleets save fuel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions; at the same time, the biopesticide-free formula is more friendly to the marine environment.In addition, another Intercept® 8500 LPP antifouling coating using unique Lubyon® patented polymer technology will also be used in this docking project.

The cooperation between AkzoNobel and Winning International began in 2016. A number of high-end products from its subsidiary International Paint have been successfully used in Winning International's ship maintenance and new shipbuilding projects.In 2025, 25% of Winning International's ships will have used Intersleek® 1100SR, which has also laid a solid foundation for the deepening of this docking repair cooperation.
